Jagex has finally taken some action to prevent/reduce the number of autoers mining Essence and selling them for money and real world money.
It has been noted that Macroers have been using bots to mine Essence endlessly and selling to members who make laws and nats out of it, therefore creating huge profits. Since mining Essence does not take massive skill to mine people do not care if their low level accounts are banned. To stop this JageX has issues classes for Essence. Free-World players can only mine Essence which can be made into only the 6 Basic Types of Runes while Members can mine Pure Essence which can be made into any rune and requires lvl 30 to mine. Due to this strategic plot Regular Essence prices will drop dramatically.
Official Story:
{% blockquote RuneScape.com http://services.runescape.com/m=news/rune-essence-adjustment Rune Essence Adjustment %}
Today we have made an adjustment to rune essence mining due to players breaking rule 7 and rule 12, using macros to mine the rune essence and then sell it.
As you are probably aware we have various systems in place to detect people breaking rule 7 and ban them. These systems work very effectively at detecting people breaking this rule, and make macroing a really bad way to try and train a high level character.
The problem we are now solving is not a problem with our macro detection systems which are still working well, but rather a problem with banning being an ineffective punishment against abusers who only use very low level accounts, and who have no intention of ever playing the game properly.
Over the last few weeks we have banned literally hundreds of accounts a day for macroing at the rune essence mine. However the bans were ineffective as the abusers could just create more low level accounts that they didn’t care about to mine more. We also track trades so we can ban the recipiant of the illegally obtained items, but the abusers in this case were swapping the runes for gp, and then selling the gp for real world money on auction sites. Of course the person buying the gp for real world money gets banned, because we track the money they received in an unbalanced trade to a macro account, but the seller doesn’t care that their customers get banned shortly after, as they have their real world money by then.
The fundamental problem is that rune essence was one of the few areas of the game which could be used to generate a reasonable amount of RuneScape money on a ‘throwaway’ low level free account. Normally to earn large amounts of money quickly you need to level up an account first, and then of course you care if it gets banned so our normal deterrent is effective.
We have therefore split rune essence to have 2 grades. Normal essence can only be used to make the six basic runes, whereas pure essence can be used to make any rune. You can mine both types of essence at the same place as before. The kind of essence you receive is automatically decided when you mine the rock. You will always get pure essence only if your mining is over 30 and you are on a members’ world, otherwise you will get normal essence.
As a one-off event whilst we introduce this, existing essence in your bank and inventory will have been automatically converted to pure essence if you are a member or have other members-only items in your bank, provided you have level 30 mining or runecrafting.
Since free players can only craft the six basic runes anyway, the normal essence is just as good for its intended purpose of letting free players do low level rune crafting. However it is not so useful for selling to members who want to make law and nature runes (who we believe buy the vast majority of rune essence in Runescape) which should reduce its price significantly and make it a much less appealing proposition for real world traders.
The only people who should be significantly affected by this are players mining very large amounts of essence on free accounts purely to sell to members. There are better way of making money on high level free accounts anyway, so this change should only really affect players trying to making large amounts of money on a low level free account – which is of course the exact idea.
We would also like to yet again remind our players NOT to break rule 12 and be tempted to buy RuneScape gold for real world money. Nearly all the gold being offered for sale in this way was generated by cheating on ‘throwaway’ accounts. If you buy it not only are you encouraging further cheating, but you run the very real risk of being banned yourself as the money you receive is dirty money and will be tracked. Again we have banned countless players for breaking rule 12 and fuelling this problem, and will continue to do so.
We hope most players will agree we shouldn’t let rule breakers spoil this game, and we are determined to not let them do so. As well as banning, where necessary we will also make minimal changes to the game to make rule breaking unviable.

After much discussion, meetings and months of planning by the staff members the homepage is finally ready for release. We did consider using [WordPress][1] but WordPress comes with some complications towards our setup. Mainly because Wordpress to SMF integration is a complete pain to try and do. We eventually decided on [OctoPress][2] which is a great [Jekyll][3] based blogging software. Let us know what you think!
For the first time in MANY years, we have a new homepage here at moparisthebest.com. This time, we decided to go with [OctoPress][2] which is a great [Jekyll][3] based blogging software.
We also need some help from you guys, what do you think we should feature on the homepage and blog about? We've had a few ideas floating around but nothing has been finalised yet and there's no exact criteria to be featured or what to actually feature. A good thing about OctoPress is that anyone can write a post or a blog entry by just forking [Moparisthebest's Github repository][4] add it, and put in a pull request and if Moparisthebest approves, it'll be committed and shown here! If you don't want to, or can't use github, just write another post in [this format][5] and email it to [Moparisthebest][6], though github submissions will be handled faster. I strongly suggest that if you want to take part in this, you read the [OctoPress blogging basics][7] documentation article.

MoparScape is a site primarily revolving around [RuneScape][1] private servers. We have been around since roughly 2006 starting off as a few boards on our mother site [Moparisthebest.com][2] and eventually growing into our own site with a wide array of forums boards ranging from graphics to general programming and we're still growing yet with over half a million registered users. MoparScape is a great resource if you need to get started and make your way through RSPS. If you already have a server and are looking for players, take a look at our [Server Status Page][6] and [Server Advertisements][7] board.
I started playing Runescape in December of 2004, I started cheating on Runescape around January of 05 when i found a site with SCAR scripts on it from google, www.rstools.prv.pl, I downloaded chrizs ironminerbanker from there and I was off cheating. Reading that script is how I learned to write scripts. Then in April my mostly legit main got banned because I messed up one line on my second script ever, an autofletcher. I then took a break from runescape, only to come back a few months later in July to find my first cheating community, sythe.org, after posting there a while, I came across a link to kaitnieks.com. I knew the name kaitnieks as the creator of SCAR, so I figured I would check it out, all of the people there including kaitnieks himself were so nice and friendly I just stayed. Since then I have learned many many things, posted a few SCAR scripts people still use and spammed the forums quite well. When winterlove released his private server publicly I wrote a client for it as basically my first attempt at client modifing, well it stuck and everyone started using it. After that I worked on another project, MoparScape Revolution, a pking/SCARable client that was autoupdating and incorporated all of the features I liked to give us cheaters an unfair advantage against legit players in the game. Over the years I have written various small tools, games, and frameworks. One of the ones that I like the best, is a project called Cherokee, which can be found with the full source on sourceforge.net by checking it out with SVN. Though it is not a full fledged bot, it does not lack much from being one, and can be a valuable learning resource for anyone interested in runescape cheating. Since then most of my time has been taken up with college, and courting Ashton up to our recent marriage. I have had time to release a few more private server versions of MoparScape, and soon another will be forthcoming.
Here at MoparScape we have several aids to assist you in creating your own RuneScape private server, first and foremost you can download all the files you will need from [Server Downloads][3], you can then read over some tutorials in the [Server Tutorials][4] board and finally, if you need some help you can check out the [Server Help][5] board. If you aren't interested in RSPS feel free to contribute where you feel you can, website development, graphics, or whatever it may be. Be sure to read the [Global Rules][8] before posting though. We also have an IRC network, if that tickles your fancy. You can find us at irc.moparscape.org on port 6667 in the #moparscape channel, or use our [Web IRC][9]. Alongside all of this we also have the [MoparScape Client][11] which is a great resource for anyone wishing to start up their own server or just fool around locally; a must read for anyone with an interest in RSPS. You can also access the MoparScape webclient [here][12].
Unbeknownst to most of the cheaters, I also have a real life (who would have guessed?) So Ill tell you a little about that too, I live in the state of Ohio, in the USA. I recently graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I also just got married to the love of my life, Ashton, on August 8th, 2009. I like hunting, computers, and mostly cars. (cant you tell from my name?) I own a 1989 Chevy S10 Baja, which is my baby and my daily driver. The original 4.3L V6 finally blew at about 312,000 miles, so I replaced it with a new 5.7L 350ci V8, which was no small job at all, but now it is more awesome than ever. My show truck is a 1990 Chevy 454SS, and its 7.4L motor is just as strong as ever, always trying to roast whatever tires I put on the back of it. I also own a 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring, with the rare engine that came in it, the 400ci big block. It needs minor restoration but is in runnable condition and looks great. One day I may get around to posting pictures of my vehicles, but don’t expect it any time soon.
If you have any further questions on MoparScape or its ideals and you can't find them on the forums, don't hesitate to contact a [Staff Member][10] and they will answer your question to the best of their ability.
