Yang Tse fe7bb33af8 HTTP_ONLY definition check in lib/setup.h is now done once that configuration 
file has been included. In this way if symbol is defined in the config file
it will no longer be ignored.

Dan Fandrich 1e482fe6a8 Changed the makefile so the doc/examples/ programs are never built in a 
normal build/install (only with the 'make check' target), so that a
build failure in the examples isn't fatal.

Dan Fandrich 59582a9d9d Implemented --enable-hidden-symbols configure option to enable 
-fvisibility=hidden on gcc >= 4.0.  This reduces the size of the libcurl
binary and speeds up dynamic linking by hiding all the internal symbols from
the symbol table.

Daniel Stenberg 67a83c1b34 David Shaw finally removed all traces of Gopher and we are now officially 
not supporting it. It hasn't been functioning for years anyway, so this is
just finally stating what already was true. And a cleanup at the same time.
