fnmatch: use the system one if available
If configure detects fnmatch to be available, use that instead of our
custom one for FTP wildcard pattern matching. For standard compliance,
to reduce our footprint and to use already well tested and well
exercised code.

A POSIX fnmatch behaves slightly different than the internal function
for a few test patterns currently and the macOS one yet slightly
different. Test case 1307 is adjusted for these differences.

fnmatch: insist on escaped bracket to match
A non-escaped bracket ([) is for a character group - as documented. It
will *not* match an individual bracket anymore. Test case 1307 updated
accordingly to match.

Problem detected by OSS-Fuzz, although this fix is probably not a final
fix for the notorious timeout issues.

curl_fnmatch: only allow two asterisks for matching
The previous limit of 5 can still end up in situation that takes a very
long time and consumes a lot of CPU.

If there is still a rare use case for this, a user can provide their own
fnmatch callback for a version that allows a larger set of wildcards.

This commit was triggered by yet another OSS-Fuzz timeout due to this.

resolve: add CURLOPT_DNS_SHUFFLE_ADDRESSES
This patch adds CURLOPT_DNS_SHUFFLE_ADDRESSES to explicitly request
shuffling of IP addresses returned for a hostname when there is more

approach is appropriate and is willing to accept the consequences of
potentially discarding some preference order returned by the system's
implementation.

progress: Track total times following redirects
Update the progress timers `t_nslookup`, `t_connect`, `t_appconnect`,
`t_pretransfer`, and `t_starttransfer` to track the total times for
these activities when a redirect is followed. Previously, only the times
for the most recent request would be tracked.

Related changes:

  - Rename `Curl_pgrsResetTimesSizes` to `Curl_pgrsResetTransferSizes`
now that the function only resets transfer sizes and no longer
modifies any of the progress timers.

  - Add a bool to the `Progress` struct that is used to prevent
    double-counting `t_starttransfer` times.

Added test case 1399.

de05bcb706 multi: fix queueing of pending easy handles
Multi handles repeatedly invert the queue of pending easy handles when
used with CURLMOPT_MAX_TOTAL_CONNECTIONS. This is caused by a multistep
process involving Curl_splaygetbest and violates the FIFO property of
the multi handle.
This patch fixes this issue by redefining the "best" node in the
context of timeouts as the "smallest not larger than now", and
implementing the necessary data structure modifications to do this
effectively, namely:
 - splay nodes with the same key are now stored in a doubly-linked
circular list instead of a non-circular one to enable O(1)
insertion to the tail of the list
 - Curl_splayinsert inserts nodes with the same key to the tail of
   the same list
 - in case of multiple nodes with the same key, the one on the head of
   the list gets selected

Prior to this commit sanitization of a user-specified outfile was

separators and colons through while replacing other banned characters.
Now in such a case we call the sanitize function with
SANITIZE_ALLOW_PATH which allows path separators and colons to pass

709cf76f6b openssl: remove all uses of USE_SSLEAY
SSLeay was the name of the library that was subsequently turned into
OpenSSL many moons ago (1999). curl does not work with the old SSLeay

code that depends on OpenSSL.

84bd19ffd4 timers: fix timer regression involving redirects / reconnects
In commit 0b3750b5c2 (released in 7.36.0) we fixed a timeout issue
but instead broke the timings.

To fix this, I introduce a new timestamp to use for the timeouts and
restored the previous timestamp and timestamp position so that the old
timer functionality is restored.

In addition to that, that change also broke connection timeouts for when
more than one connect was used (as it would then count the total time
from the first connect and not for the most recent one). Now
Curl_timeleft() has been modified so that it checks against different
start times depending on which timeout it checks.

Test 1303 is updated accordingly.

If the precision is indeed shorter than the string, don't strlen() to

I also added a unit test for curl_msnprintf to make sure this works and

compliance problem that I marked TODO in the unit test, and I figure we
need to add more tests in the future.

36585b5395 netrc: handle longer username and password
libcurl truncates usernames and passwords it reads from .netrc to
LOGINSIZE and PASSWORDSIZE (64) characters without any indication to
the user, to ensure the values returned from Curl_parsenetrc fit in a
caller-provided buffer.

Fix the interface by passing back dynamically allocated buffers
allocated to fit the user's input. The parser still relies on a
256-character buffer to read each line, though.

So now you can include an ~246-character password in your .netrc,
instead of the previous limit of 63 characters.

4b401b2d99 build: use per-target '_CPPFLAGS' for those currently using default
Automake documents that doing this will make it choose a different name
for intermediate object files even when sharing source files across
targets of same Makefile.am.

Up to automake 1.13.1 target's intermediate object files were placed
in the build subdirectory of the target. We depended on this, probably
undocumented behavior, to achieve same behavior as if a per-target flag
had been specified when building targets that actually belong to
different Makefile.am files.

It seems automake 1.13.2 is going to break behavior mentioned above.

So, lets use a documented behavior in order to achieve same purpose,
across automake versions, no matter where automake wishes to place
intermediate object files.

Our build targets that already were using a per-target '_CFLAGS' or
'_CPPFLAGS' need no 'fixing', these were already 'fixed'. The only
Makefile.am or Makefile.in files in libcurl's source tree touched by
this 'fix' are tests/libtest/Makefile.inc and tests/unit/Makefile.inc.

5a053ffe80 build: fix circular header inclusion with other packages
This commit renames lib/setup.h to lib/curl_setup.h and
renames lib/setup_once.h to lib/curl_setup_once.h.

Removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard foreign
to libcurl. [1]

Removes the need and presence of an alarming notice we carried
in old setup_once.h [2]

----------------------------------------

1 - lib/setup_once.h used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro as header inclusion guard
up to commit ec691ca3 which changed this to HEADER_CURL_SETUP_ONCE_H,
this single inclusion guard is enough to ensure that inclusion of
lib/setup_once.h done from lib/setup.h is only done once.

Additionally lib/setup.h has always used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro to
protect inclusion of setup_once.h even after commit ec691ca3, this
was to avoid a circular header inclusion triggered when building a
c-ares enabled version with c-ares sources available which also has
a setup_once.h header. Commit ec691ca3 exposes the real nature of
__SETUP_ONCE_H usage in lib/setup.h, it is a header inclusion guard
foreign to libcurl belonging to c-ares's setup_once.h

The renaming this commit does, fixes the circular header inclusion,
and as such removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard
foreign to libcurl. Macro __SETUP_ONCE_H no longer used in libcurl.

2 - Due to the circular interdependency of old lib/setup_once.h and the
c-ares setup_once.h header, old file lib/setup_once.h has carried
back from 2006 up to now days an alarming and prominent notice about
the need of keeping libcurl's and c-ares's setup_once.h in sync.

Given that this commit fixes the circular interdependency, the need
and presence of mentioned notice is removed.

All mentioned interdependencies come back from now old days when
the c-ares project lived inside a curl subdirectory. This commit
removes last traces of such fact.

fd00b382b2 base64: fix Curl_base64_encode and Curl_base64_decode interfaces
Previous interfaces for these libcurl internal functions did not allow to tell
apart a legitimate zero size result from an error condition. These functions
now return a CURLcode indicating function success or otherwise specific error.
Output size is returned using a pointer argument.

All usage of these two functions, and others closely related, has been adapted
to the new interfaces. Relative error and OOM handling adapted or added where
missing. Unit test 1302 also adapted.
